Should Pennsylvania Have a Constitutional Convention
The last time the Pennsylvania Constitution was amended through a constitutional convention process was in 1967-1968. Many state lawmakers are now calling for a constitutional convention to revisit issues such as judicial elections, legislative term limits, redistricting and other issues of great interest to the Committee of Seventy.
The Committee of Seventy is co-sponsoring a continuing legal education course (2.5 substantive credits) entitled “Should Pennsylvania Have a Constitutional Convention” on Tuesday, September 21st from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the CLE Conference Center on the 10th Floor of the Wanamaker Building (on Juniper Street, between 13th and Broad Streets).
It should be a fascinating program. Presenters include former PA Governor Dick Thornburgh, former Commonwealth Court Judge James Gardner Colins (now with Cozen O’Connor), State Representative Kathy Manderino and Duquesne Law School Professor Bruce Ledewitz.
PLEASE NOTE: this is a program intended for lawyers and others in the legal profession.
